The use of animal products remains controversial in design, whether it be fashion or interior design. I have to admit to having mixed feelings about it…… I hate the idea of animals being farmed and culled in a cruel or mean manner, and have friends that are strict vegans (primarily for the animal cruelty issue).
But, I adore the look and feel of many animal products.
Leather (pouffe and hide):
caramel pouffe via Table Tonic, love that texture!
Skin:
via High Gloss mag.
Feathers:
via Table Tonic - Totally depends on location and context for me with these.
Probably most controversial, fur:
Jenny from MFAMB posts some gorgeous bedrooms featuring fur throws, wow, they look lux.
So, I had to take the plunge and get myself a little something- something…
But…
You may be happy to know it is fake faux ;)
A stylish addition to my bedside for those night-time ideas and thoughts that strike me :)
Where do you stand on animal products? Do you prefer some over others? Or none at all??? And do you keep a diary/journal/notebook???

Hi Romana,
good question. I don't mind the use under certain circumstances - eg. wool and leather. I have an issue with fur because it usually involves cruelty. I think there are a lot of good quality faux animal products around, so if I can source that, I'd prefer to go that way. You probably remember hearing a couple of years ago about shoes being made of Cane toad - not that I'd be in the market for a pair, but if they are humanely killed for that purpose, I don't mind. So yes, mixed feelings on this one. I'd love a red faux croc bag for winter :-)
Love your journal. I've started many a journal, but they don't last long.
Have a great weekend,
Cheers,

Hi Romana, I remember the first time I saw that caramel pouffe at Table Tonic, I fell in love with it. It's simply gorgeous! Waiting to move in to my next place to figure out whether its going to go with the new decor....might have to get it regardless though...
Lisa - just recently I saw new canetoad-kangaroo sneakers! The canetoad leather actually looked really awesome, lol.
Anastasia - would love to see that pouffe for real, it just looks like it would feel so soft! And thanks for becoming a Follower :) I couldn't see a link for your blog though (if you have one??).
